Why should one ice-cream shop stand out amongst all others? On arriving at – Slurp! – it is not even a fully fledged sit-in cafe, merely a shop with a couple of tables inside and surprisingly none outside. Yes, it sells a decent array of ice-cream, but that can be got anywhere across Italia. Hector offers two possible explanations:
Firstly, when walking through the old town of Sassari from Piazza d’Italia towards Piazza Tola there isn’t really much to see, especially as one passes through the modern Piazza Castello. One may as well stop here for ice-cream.
Secondly, social media is self perpetuating, that this page exists at all is surely proof?
Conclusion, buy your ice-cream anywhere in Sassari, and it will still never be as good as the University Cafe (Glasgow, Scotland).
