Opened in 2022, the Alvares Brewery Taproom is another welcomed addition to the Craft Beer scene in Porto. Whilst they do brew Hector’s current preference NEIPA, this was not on tap in Visit #1, and most of the Cans had been sold out, same story with the DIPA. With ten taps, why so few Alvares Biers on offer?
My choice of draught Bier was one had at source before in Lisboa.
Alvares Brewery Taproom is located a couple of minutes walk south-west of Trindade Metro station, and equally so north-west from Aliados. Baobab – Craft Beer Bar – is next door.
The Lost City of El Dorado 6.0% – Can
Hazy IPA (NEIPA)
Mosaic and El Dorado Hops.
This Bier poured like a quality Weizen, cloudy and thick as it settled.
The flavors of the hops hit hard, excellent Bier, probably the best had in Porto to date.

Uracca Vendval (Fábrica 8a Colina, Lisboa) 6.0%
AIPA
Hazy, dry on the palate.
A high IBU suspected, a variant of the Rowing Jack style of AIPA.
