Hops Beerstrò  –  Via di Cavana, 15, 34124 Trieste TS

Hops Beerstrò  is located towards the end of the pedestrianised area in Trieste southwest of Piazza Unità d’Italia. In addition to having the best range of Craft Beer in Trieste, Thai cuisine is also served.

Visited over five nights in July 2018, this became – our local.  Theo, a very knowledgeable host, kept the hot coffee coming for Marg until she too decided it was time to imbibe, and quickly recognised Hector’s desire to drink hoppy Bier. 

Bier was on offer from one of Hector’s favourite Berlin breweries, plus the stalwart from Milano.  Roma’s – Ritual Lab – was put firmly on the map.

It is worth visiting Trieste just to experience Hops Beerstrò. I can give no higher praise.

Yellow, clear.

US hops, grapefruit and citrus, a veritable hop bomb.

A truly stunning Bier, the right hops and full on.

Arrogant Bastard Ale ( Stone Brewing, Berlin, Deutschland)  7.2%

Ale 73 IBU

Dark ruby.

No astringency, but strong on the palate.

A Simcoe hop overdose suspected.

NEIPA (CR/AK Crack Brewery, Campodarsego, Padua, Italia)  6.5%

Yellow, milky, thin.

Held its own in hoppiness.

Montestella (Birrificio Lambrate, Milano, Italia)  4.9%

Helles  20 IBU

Very much in the named style.

Polaris (Zanna Beer – a gypsy brewery in Trieste, Italia)  5.0%

Pilsner  35 IBU

Yellow, slight haze.

Citrus undertones.

Very easy to drink.

 

The World Cup was being held on the nights of our visit, we were supporting Hrvatska-Croatia.
