Edinburgh Pub – Hüseyinaga, Sahne Sk. No:11, 34126 Beyoglu/Istanbul
Having wandered long and far uphill from the Galata Tower into the heart of Pera on Day #1 of our Istanbul visit in May, 2022, we stopped off here. TVs were showing the second half of the Wolverhampton v Manchester City match we had seen some of back at the less than welcoming Tower Pub. It was only after we had taken our seats that we saw the name of the venue. It’s not Monty’s.
With a range of five Biers, I wasn’t desperate to avoid Efes, yet. It would suffice. Lager served in a frosted glass is always a treat, almost tasteless, perfect.
We ended up back here for the FA Cup Final when Tower Pub, beside our accommodation, were indifferent.
Chelsea lost to Liverpool, on penalties.
On Visit #2, the staff were delighted to see us again. The welcome was genuine. A table was provided, where we could breathe. With the ground floor seating area being wide open, there is little sense of inside/outside, so the indoor smoking ban appears not to be enforced.
Ground floor? The toilets are two floors up. One passes through a room with more TVs, a lounge in many respects. The upper floor has more seating and games. In winter, one could actually see this as a pub.
Having had a late night Burger on Visit #1, we decided to eat here again. The food is excellent.
Marg had Beef Fajitas, I had a Meze, way more than I could manage. Then there was Dessert: the sizzling-hot chocolate sauce completed Marg’s day, never mind the Bailey’s.
