Bradford (Yorkshire, England) – City of Culture – 2025, is renowned for the quality of its Curry, not necessarily its Bier. First visited in the mid 1990s, the town centre was a planning disaster: a Gothic town hall, art deco theatres (closed) and 1960s architectural monstrosities. It was the discovery of the National Museum of Film and Television that first brought Hector to Bradford, the Dalek has gone…
Millenium Square and its associated fountains, was the beginning of a city centre revitalisation. By 2025, the traffic had been removed from the central area, buildings re-clad, one of the two theatres reopened, and a cyclist’s paradise had been created. OK, it’s much better for pedestrians also.
Haworth, the Bronte Village is at the extremities, as is Keighley home of Taylor’s Brewery. It is Curry that is the main attraction but thanks to an increasing number of encounters with Mr. Holden, one is being made more aware of the pubs too.
