Tales of Ales – Miltiadou 19, Athina 105 60
Established in 2018, Tales of Ales is another must visit Athena venue for Craft Beer. Located in a quiet street between Psyri and Syntagma, Tales of Ales opens daily at 14.00, 17.00 on Sunday and Monday. Small premises compared to nearby Barley Cargo, the minimal seating inside is complemented by the covered area outside.
Staffed by Kostas and Agis, the welcome is genuine. By the end of visit #1, one feels like a local. An excellently run bar, it is unlikely that the first visit will be the last.
The number of taps may be limited compared to Tapfield in Psyri, however, this is more than made up for by the quality of bottles and cans on offer. Having found some of my very own favourites, one can only conclude that the quality of Greek Craft Beer on offer is as high.
Visited in October-November 2020 in the days leading up to Athena Lockdown #2, Tales of Ales had possibly the finest NEIPA brewed in Hellas on tap.
Citra Crush 6.5% – Seven Islands, Corfu, Hellas
NEIPA
The full Milkshake experience.
This Bier tastes sublime, all the right hops, sits easy on the palate and has nothing nasty in the aftertaste. This is as good a NEIPA as you will discover, anywhere.
