Tapfield Beer Bar & Tapas – Navarchou Apostoli 4, Athina 105 54
Located metres from Monastiraki Metro station in the heart of Psyri, Tapfield was first visited in October 2020 when the midnight curfew was in place. Open daily at 17.00, 16.00 on Friday and Saturday, 18.00 on a Sunday, this multitap bar is another welcome addition to the Athena Craft Beer scene.
Recommended to Hector by Dimitris at Crop Roastery, Heraklion, it was worth mentioning the name of Crete’s most famous landlord.
Oh, that Dimitris – said Miltos, Mein Host. From that moment we knew were in the right place in Athena. Not only is there a good range of Bier at Tapfield, Miltos displays his sense of humour. With great advice on what to try next, Bier knowledge works both ways, Miltos is happy to learn also.
Tasty nibbles keep appearing, as if by magic.
The Bier enjoyed with most frequency at Tapfield to date has been Just in Time, though as Miltos is a keen promoter of Seven Islands (Corfu), it was at Tapfield where I had my first exposure to the wonderful Citra Crush, albeit from a bottle that needed serious swirling.
Just in Time 7.0% – Clepsydra Nomad Brewing, Hellas
NEIPA
Full on haze, but not the lactose/body of a milkshake.
Dry foretaste with a sense of something Eastern European in the aftertaste.
The Session Bier of choice.
Citra Crush 6.5% – Seven Islands, Corfu, Hellas
NEIPA
This has it all, the right hops, the Milkshake experience.
So well balanced, nothing nasty here at all, full on flavours.
This is right up there with the very best of NEIPA.
After one visit, Miltos will know your preferred style of Bier, the recommendations keep coming.
