The Maidens Hotel (7 Sham Nath Marg, New Delhi – 110054, India) is a Four Star Luxury Hotel in Northern New Delhi, in the proximity of The Red Fort. The welcome is wonderful. All staff at the doorway greeted us individually with – Namaste. We then walked through the metal detector, each member of the group setting off the alarm with no reaction at all from anyone who should care. A Cool Drink awaits all on arrival. The rooms are suitably impressive, it is an extra pleasure when one has a larger room on vacation than one has at home. I checked the timetable for transport to the bathroom. There was even a towel covered stool to aid one’s access to the deep bath and shower.
The window in each room faces on to the corridor, which does necessitate the drawing of curtains. Strange as this may seem, it means that direct sunlight can never penetrate the room which must aid keeping cool. There is air conditioning throughout and each room has a Mini-bar.
Having purchased Indian Power Adaptors, it was surprising to discover that the drawers had sockets, and these were Universal. Why have I not discovered this before? Universal Sockets taking every conceivable plug, genius.
There are two Restaurants, The Garden Terrace and The Curzon Room. The latter only offered an Indian Menu, The Garden Terrace was more International, with a Buffet Breakfast and Dinner available there too. The Cavalry Bar is a small room adjacent to The Curzon Room, prices of all alcoholic drinks are excessive, as is the case in the majority of hotels we visited in India.
In the gardens to the rear is a substantial outdoor Swimming Pool. In March, the water was – Cold!
