Orzo Bruno Pisa – Via delle Case Dipinte, 6 Bear Garden, 56100 Pisa Italia
Brew Pub – is how Orzo Bruno describes itself, maybe once upon a time, the brew plant is elsewhere. Bar-Diner – may be a more appropriate moniker.
The Orzo Bruno pub is located north of the River Orno in the heart of Mediaeval Pisa. Sited on the east side of the square behind Galileo’s statue, this proved to be the go-to Craft Beer venue in Pisa. As a consequence, nearby Scaccomalto remains unknown.
Visited in October 2023, it was very much a case of – the students are back. The square was mobbed, the majority choosing to sit outside. This left the healthy sophisticates plenty of inside seating.
The welcome was both warm and patient as the array of taps was studied. Wombat, an IPA was the standout choice. At 5.0% this smooth, hazy, Craft Beer had but a sense of hops and was far from being a big hitter. Still, it went down well and was enjoyed over two nights. Topaz, Citra and Simcoe hops were featured.
