Birra + – Via del Pigneto, 105, 00176 Roma
In 2016, getting out to Birra+ was quite an adventure.
The local suburban train leaves from the outside of Roma Termini at Stazione Laziali heading to Selena. One may now also take the Metro to Pigneto and cross over the railway tracks at Selena. Birra+ Opens daily at 17.00 (18.00 on Sundays).
With nine taps the selection should have been enough to cover all tastes. However, on spotting bottled Polish Craft Beer, Hector had to try the Hopus Pokus (Pinta, Polska) as this was one by this brewery that had never been sampled. That I went to the dark side means I have must have been – hopped out.
Our sheer numbers meant that we occupied the bar area. Later customers were spilling out on to the street. The staff and fellow punters made us most welcome. Birra+, worth the trek.
Micugipa (Fristyle/Birra+, Italia) 6.5%
IPA Dark gold, in the style, good hop hit.
Hopus Pocus (Pinta, Polska) 6.3%
Black IPA Dry tasting, a good experience, would have again. (Piwo by Pinta rarely excite.)
Yakima Valley (Arbor, Bristol, England) 7.0%
American IPA A Bier well known to Hector, as is much of the ever expanding Arbor range. Full on hops, hence it had to be had.
… waiting for the last train back to the city centre…
