When one goes exploring in Cagliari, there is no choice but to go – up. Having entered the – Castello – complex, eventually the Saint Remy rampart is encountered. Here lies Terrazza Umberto, a massive terrace offering a viewpoint of almost 270º which covers the waterfront, the lagoons, and the approaches to the airport. For views of the remainder of the city, walk northwards to the far end of the Castello peak.
Alternatively, one may approach via the steps leading up through the facade which fronts the terrace. This is an imposing building by day and by night.
