Zoetermeer, once an eastern suburb of Den Haag, is now a major population centre in its own right. With its significant expansion in the latter part of the Twentieth Century, Zoetermeer has many of the characteristics of a British – New Town.
Zoetermeer is famous for being the birthplace of SPAR shops. Now that we know this, we are unlikely to forget it. More importantly, Zoetermeer is the home of the Rock venue – Poppodium Boerderij, where, it is fair to conclude that every band reviewed in Curry-Heute has performed here. Marg and Hector were at Boerderij to see Gazpacho in March 2026.
Zoetermeer is served by the main train line, alternatively Trams 3 or 4 from Den Haag. The Trams loop around the town connecting the Town Centre, Train Station and Boerderij at Voorweg. Driemanspolder is the Tram stop adjacent to the train station.
Arriving in Den Haag and appreciating the proximity and the lateness of the Trams, begged the question:
why stay in Zoetermeer?
With the bar at Boerderij the only place in town open late, this proved to be a worthy decision.
If one wishes to interact with band members after the show, then this is the place to be.
Beware of false information on Google Maps. Google insist there is a ten minute walk from alighting at – Voorweg Laag/Hoog – to reaching the venue on foot. Nonsense, they are adjacent.

There was also spurious information about the route of the last Tram 3 back to Driemanspolder (train station). Watch the boards, change platform to the higher level if necessary. What is posted as a ten stop journey can actually be only two. Google have been advised.
