The Beer Station – Lisboa

The Beer Station  –  Largo duque de Cadaval 17 Quiosque D, 1200-160 Lisboa

Located under Rossio-Lisboa train station, this small bar is certainly worthy of at least one visit. With more seating outside, probably a summer venue more than winter.

There are eight taps offering Bier from local breweries, these are complemented by an impressive range of canned and bottled Bier.

Calipa American IPA (Post Scriptum, Portugal) 6.4%

Gold with a slight haze, this was a fairly standard IPA.  Hops came through, there was a slight astringency in the aftertaste, – OK.

Rebendita (Vilhoa & Letra, Portugal)  6.0%

A Passion Fruit IPA, – Milkshake – was promised on the bottle, it took a while to some through in terms of flavour, but did in the end when the lactose kicked in. Chinook, Cascade, Citra and Mosaic hops were present, what more does one need?

Vila Beta (8a Colina, Lisboa, Portugal) 6.2%

A bottled NEIPA, it did not pour well.  Watery in appearance to begin, it took skill to turn it into the expected – Milkshake. With minimal lactose, this did little for the plate.  It was much better at the – 8a Colina Taproom – on draught.

Equinox IPA (Pecho Sousa, Portugal) 7.5%

A bottled DIPA, this dark gold, hazy Bier did not deliver. The body was there but the flavour was not overwhelming.
