Jewel – Changi Airport – Singpore

Jewel – is located opposite Terminal 1 at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

Having visited – Jewel – in March 2024, one could help wonder about the disaster that is Berlin Flughafen (BER). The architect designed that airport without shops and was then – advised – that this was an important function.

Our taxi driver to Changi insisted we visit Jewel, fortunately we had planned to be there four hours before our Qantas departure to facilitate this. En route, his next fare, a Chinese group asked if they could postpone their imminent booking slot by two hours to go shopping at Jewel. Request denied. People come here to shop, every brand imaginable is represented, but then, the Hector has little imagination when it comes to – brands.

The top floor is mostly eating and drinking, and is hot up – hot air rises. On the lower floors, the air-con is more effective.

The big attraction is the Rain Vortex, in effect, the World’s highest indoor waterfall, until Dubai or similar replicates. This can be viewed at multiple levels, each giving a different perspective. The shuttle between terminals crosses through it.

There are also kiddy oriented attractions, hotel (s) and an early check-in facility in the basement.
