Ziba Bar – Istanbul

Ziba Bar  –  Tomtom, Akansu Sk No: 10, 34433 Beyoglu/Istanbul

Visited four nights out of five during our stay in May 2022, this became our local. There are six taps, however, one a duplicate. A pity they ran out of the Mosaic IPA on the last night. Also, this is not a NEIPA as they list on their menu. Still, the range of bottled Craft Beer was enough to amuse.

Open all day until late, Ziba is located just off the main drag – Istikal Cd. – connecting Galata Tower to Taksim Square. Look out for the Farsi Restaurant at Acara Sk..

With friendly staff, we were certainly made welcome here. Familiarity perhaps helped by our choosing to stay indoors to enjoy the clean air,  rather than with the majority outside.

(Don’t leave it until the last minute to use the facilities. Sometimes the queue is lengthy.)

The photo from Morte Subite (Brussel) was instantly recognised.

American  5.5%  3 Kafadar, Türkiye

Hoppy Pale Ale

Amber ale, dry tasting. There was little more than a sense of hops, at least no nasties.

Their Mosaic IPA is far better.

Momonti Filtresiz IPA  4.8%  Anadolu Efes Brewery, Türkiye

Session IPA

Yellow, a decent haze. Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. The latter was invasive but not detrimental. The best on offer when the Mosaic IPA ran out.

Porter

Anything less than 9.0% feels thin in this era. No chocolate or nutty blasts. Five different malts listed. Nothing special.

This is one I wish had been available, if just for the play on words.
