Albany, established by the Dutch as Fort Orange, the oldest city in New York State, and its capital, is sited at the confluence of the Hudson and Mohawk rivers. In the seventeenth century, the Dutch established a less than harmonious trading post, creating conflict with the indigenous population and the French in nearby Canada. The British, as ever, sorted things out. Whatever happened to The British Empire?
Albany has a humid continental climate: hot, humid summers (40ºC) with cold, snowy winters (0ºC).
Visited in June 2024, with Bier and Curry as the primary interests, outstanding examples of both were experienced.
