It took word of mouth to put the Augustiner Brewery Tap on the radar in the early noughties. Located west of the Hauptbahnhof at Hackerbrücke, on the southern side of the railway, it is a few minutes walk from the S-Bahn station, the tram from Hauptbahnhof takes you to the door. The Augustiner-Keller is on the opposite side of the train tracks. Three New Years – Silvester – have been brought in at this venerable venue, the only time when standing on the chairs as in the – the good old days – is – de rigueur.
In addition to the standard Helles (5.2%) and the preferred Edelstoff (5.6%), the much celebrated Hellerbock (7.0%) has been enjoyed on these premises.
With the price of Bier and food appreciably lower than in the city centre, this is a popular place, booking is advisable at peak times.
