Taroudant – Souss Massa – Maroc

Nicknamed – Little Marrakech – Taroudant, once the capital of Maroc, lies inland from Agadir.

A bus service connects the two. However, for the tourist, an organised day trip from Agadir is the likeliest means of transportation.  If one decides to stay here for a day or so, find a riyadh,  always a great residential experience.

The city walls are 7.5km long.  Being on the periphery of the 2023 earthquake, there was some damage.

Unfortunately, our visit at the end of 2023 was fleeting and although the city walls were seen on approach, there was little opperchancity to capture their magnificence in full.

Off the main square lie two souks: the Arab market and the Berber market. The atmosphere in both is way more relaxed than many a souk, but as a tourist be prepared to haggle and/or walk away.

South of Taroudant lies Tiout, a Kasbah with an oasis and goats grazing on trees.
