Albany – Oregon

Why are you going to Albany? – was the question nearly everyone in Oregon asked when the itinerary for the 2018 trip was related.  However, nearby Corvallis came highly recommended.

Albany is at the confluence of the Calapooia and Willamette Rivers, between Portland and Eugene. Albany was chosen for its proximity to the railway line and its breweries. There is a train station, yet we arrived and departed by bus, courtesy of Amtrak.

There is limited public transport, therefore Anytime Taxi is well worth getting to know. Ben, Brock, and Brent operate a most reliable taxi service.

Everyone we met in Albany was most welcoming, perhaps they don’t expect many tourists? Our Sunday evening at Calapooia Brewing will never be forgotten.

The bar and brewpubs visited:

No Rails Ale House  –  117 SE 1st Ave #105, Albany, OR 97321

Calapooia Brewing Company  –  140 NE Hill St, Albany, OR 97321

DeLuxe Brewing Co.  –  JWQ2+MM Albany, Oregon
